Christmas Copic Classes

Well the beginner Copic classes for November and December at Paper Nation are over and it has been very good to get back into teaching again. I am working on some new beginner boards and an exciting new advanced class. Since the basic class we have teaches many advanced tecniques, the advanced class is sure to give even the most advanced Copic user something new to learn.

Oh my goodness, has it really been since January since I've blogged? How does the time fly by so fast??

Well it's been a busy few months and I am happy to announce that I am back in full crafting mode which will mean a lot more blog updates!

I have been contemplating the idea of teaching again for quite some time and after several chats with Bryan at Paper Nation I have decided that it's time once again to teach. Bryan is in the process of bringing in Copic Markers and Whipper Snapper Stamps for some exciting new classes this fall. For those of you that have taken my classes before, you know how excited I am about these 2 products. I'm sure you can see me jumping in my chair right now!

Saturday Night Creation

Today was a shopping day, and a day for running into a few people I haven't seen in quite some time, hi Judy :) I went to 3 stores collecting all sorts of fun goodies. Among those goodies were some papers needed to complete a few cards with some old samples I had laying around. If you could see my paper collection you might laugh at this but really, I didn't have anything that matched! Rarely do I pick paper second, but since these were samples I made, paper wasn't a thought at the time. It is never an easy task trying to find paper to match something you have already made but I think this one turned out pretty good. The image is an old Provo Craft stamp colored with Copics and then accented with Flower Soft. What do you think?

Chelsea has never been very brave and usually has to be talked into trying new things, especially scary rides. This year at the PNE she seemed very open to trying most of the rides. West Coast Amusements brings in extra rides for the PNE this one is named Fireball. I snapped this photo sitting across from her as we were upside down. WHAT A FACE!

New Post...Old Layout, I Miss Scrapbooking

I haven't scrapbooked in well over 2 years so this layout is definitely not current however I thought I would share it anyway. These are some of my favorite photos. I hope to start scrapbooking again soon, as time permits. Maybe posting a few of these layouts will get me in the mood again...I think it's already working :)

Yes, that's right...I'm back and in full swing! It's been quite an adventure for me the past two years. I took some time away from crafting and blogging, setting my priorities etc. New job, new home, newly single, new life and now that I have everything in place I finally have time to do what I love and I am so happy to be back at it.

Once again I have been making some cards for Whipper Sn apper and playing around with my Copic Markers. I have been playing with some fun techniques and I'm so excitied about the designs I have been able to make this time around. Here are a few samples!

I can't wait to share all of my new designs. I'm not making any more promises about updating this site but I am planning on staying active now :) Come back soon!!

HELLO!!!!

Ok, really I am still alive. Life has been a little crazy the past few months. After leaving the scrapbook store in January to work in a financial planning office, I found another job in March that is only 15 minutes from home which saves me about 3 hours a day in travel time, not to mention the fuel costs. I have been training once again for this new job (this time in healthcare) and it has kept me very busy and tired, but I love it :) I am now working half the number of hours I used to work and bring home 50% more money...who wouldn't like that!

On top of the new jobs, since the weather has gotten a little nicer I've been in the garden and fixing up the backyard so we can enjoy our meals outside again. Nothing better that eating outside on a warm day. My baskets and planters are all planted.....12 of them in all. I also have converted a water fountain into a planter which looks lovely every year. Once the plants start to grow in I will post some pictures.

I do keep saying this but I promise I will be updating this blog a little more often. I have also been very busy with teaching and creating so below are a few samples of what I have been working on. Please come back often, there will be more very soon!

So many questions...here are some answers.

Yes it's true, I'm not teaching at my LSS anymore (my last classes there will be February 21st) however I am not disappearing!! I am taking a small break, but plan to resume teaching privately. In my home, in yours, at a center...I am officially a freelance teacher and will be travelling around teaching in various locations.

As many of you know I am COPIC certified and I specialize in COPIC classes.

If you have these pens and would like to have a class, please contact me and we can set up your very own private tutoring session, one on one or in a group.

I can't believe how crazy the past 6 weeks have been for me. Sorry for not posting once again but I think I am finally back on track and healthy again, which should mean regular updates to my blog....yes thats a promise!! This past Monday I was lucky enough to attend the Copic Certification class in Vancouver from Marianne Walker. What an exciting, information packed day. I am now a Certified Copic Designer...yippeeee!!!!! Was I smart enough to take any pictures...NOPE! Here is a pic of my certificate though.

Below are a few cards I made recently for display at Precious Memories

The first card is made using the new Fancy Pants Christmas paper line. The stamp is from Stamp Barn, colored with Copics of course!!

This stamp set is from Cornigh Heritage Farms and I just love how the trees truned out with the Copic Markers. Patterned paper is Making Memories.

I will be posting some of my Whipper Snapper designs soon before I send them all off to Lisa. Can't wait to share those ones with you, they are so cute!!

Keeping my promise

I also made a promise to update more regularly, I can't believe May 5th was my last post....where has the time gone. It's been way too long since I've posted and I must apologize! Life has just gotten in the way, with our vacation to Disneyland, working, teaching and school, there just isn't enough time for much else. Below are some pictures to share, Disneyland first...

New Discovery

While playing with my new Whipper Snapper stamps yesterday, I made an exciting little discovery. Some of you may have already made this discovery but I thought I would share it with you anyway.

I had a few images stamped on watercolor paper with a Versafine Onyx ink with intentions of watercoloring them. I usually stamps 3 or 4 of the same image because I always mess one of them up, and I like to have spares. Well after watercoloring one set I decided I wanted to use pencil crayons for my next image, but was too lazy to restamp the images! I colored in the images but was unhappy with the results because of the textured look from the watercolor paper. I looked around my desk, what could I do next; my Copic blender pen was sitting there so I grabbed it, not sure if it would do anything but heck, it was worth a shot since I wasn't happy with the image the way it was.

Well hot damn, wouldn't you know it, IT WORKED. The Copic blender pen blends Crayola pencil crayons, AND my Versafine ink didn't run on watercolor paper. I was unsure how this ink would react with the Copic blender and this paper. The only thing I did notice is it did mess up the end of my blender pen a bit, but it was easily cleaned off. Since I have 2 of these babies, I can keep one specific for pencil crayons and the other one for Copics!

Here are samples, the one on the left is done with watercolor crayons from Staedtler and the one on the right is the one with the Crayola pencil crayons. These will be on the March calendar at Precious Memories!!

Basic Grey Magnetic Mat

Don't you just hate it when you are working on a layout, have everything in it's place and suddenly with one bump, everything shifts and you have to start all over again! I have discovered this great tool, it's not a new tool but it is new to me. I convinced myself and a few other people that this magnetic mat from Basic Grey was a must buy, and now that I've used it I'm convinced. I was so convinced that I sent my husband to the store on my day off to get me a second one! DUH....two page layouts require one for each side. Not only is this thing good for holding your pieces all in place but the grid along the outside of the mat is perfect for all you linear scrapbookers who need to get everything perfectly straight. Another tool I just can't live without!

Disney is booked

Happy to finally have our trip booked . We are staying at the Marriott Fairfield Inn, right across from the park! It took a little work and a switch of travel agents but this is the hotel I wanted to stay in, we only had to push the dates back a week, Feb 16th to the 23rd is when we are going. We have booked Goo fy's Kitchen for our first morning breakfast and Ariels Grotto for dinner, this should really please the kids. Now perhaps I should go make myself a little autograph book!

This is one exciting year! As you can see in the video, we are heading to Disneyland....or the big "D" as it's been referred to for the past 3 months. The kids were so excited I just had to share this little video clip of them opening their tickets that I made up for them! Hoping everyone had a wonderful Christmas!

Glitter Everywhere

Saturday was a family day, usually a day to spend with the kids doing whatever they want to do. Today we decided to make Christmas cards for all their friends and teachers. It was a whole lot of fun doing this with the girls, even though there was some complaining about how long it took etc, they still had fun. We started by painting some chipboard snoflakes that I had diecut at work in this lovely seafoam blue from Making Memories. After these dried I sprayed them with a spray glue and we dipped them into a pot of clear glitter. This was a lot of fun however my house is now completely covered in glitter. After all the glittering it was assembly time. Chelsea put the tape onto the back of the patterened paper, Autumn pealed the backing off, Hannah placed the patterned paper onto the card and the I stamped and glued the snowflake in place. All in all it went over pretty well, kids enjoyed seeing their hard work pay off with such pretty cards.

We Lost A Tooth!!

We lost our first tooth!! Autumn has been wiggling this tooth for about 6 months now, from the very first hint that it was loose. Yesterday we were in the car on our way home from work and she wanted to eat my apple. She had a few bites and started complaining that it was hard to eat because her tooth was loose...a complaint I had heard before so I ignored it. A few minutes later she was telling me that her tooth fell out, so exciting! Even more exciting was the thought of the tooth fairy, who hasn't visited this house in quite some time now.

Now onto the rest of my life. I have been quite busy lately. With Christmas just around the corner there are so many last minute things to catch up on. I have also decided to go back to school. I never did finish high school and I decided that there is no better time than now! I have been spending my nights doing homework, started with a Principles of Math course, I always loved math!! I plan on getting my courses finished within the year so you may not see as many projects posted because of this. I am going to try to manage to get some done as well, I can't let my creative side slip!

Well...off to do some homework!

Quick Update

Just a quick update to say, no I haven't disappeared. I have been super busy making gifts and cards, not to mention parties and working. So much to do at this time of year.

I won't be posting too much of what I'm making as most are gifts and I don't want to spoil the surprise.

The two tins below are for my Niece and Nephew in Scotland. I picked up some wonderful stationary supplies at a dollar store(gotta love when it's all a buck) in Cars and in Princess, made these tins to match so they can each have their own little tins to store their goodies.

Here is another one of the Christmas cards that I made for the class I did for some friends last Saturday night. The evening turned out great. The girls, some of which really aren't crafty, did a fabulous job and all of their cards turned out great. I introduced my clear Spica pen and they went crazy, with that and the stickles, all of their cards were glittered. I used the Spica pen in this card pictured, love the subtle look of glitter without altering the color.

I am off to finish making more cards tonight, I am hoping this post can bring me some inspiration and motivation to get them done. Wish me luck!

A couple of new cards

Just a quick post of a couple of new cards. The first one was inspired by Anna Wight and her Dirty snowflake card, I just love the brown with the snowflakes. You can't really see it in the picture but the LI snowman is raised off the card with popdots.

The second card I used the new Heidi Grace Christmas paper. A Denami stamp was used with a glue pen and microfine glitter as well as red stickles to add berries and make it look seasonal.

Well today was a day off, however it was not a day for creating but rather a day for visiting Santa. Every year we seem to be able to hit the malls just when Santa arrives, and this year was no exception. The long hour drive to the mall can be extremely boring for the kids and even more unpleasant for us, especially when you hit traffic. This time of year is especially bad as everyone is hustling around trying to get their shopping done, not to mention construction and accidents. I'm pretty sure it took me 20 minutes to find a parking spot...I hate shopping!

We have seen this Santa a few years now, always the same Santa and he seems to remember us....or at least that's what he tells the kids. Their wishes this year are big ticket items and I was happy to hear Santa tell them that he wasn't making any promises and that he'd have to talk it over with Mom and Dad first...what a smart Santa! Perhaps he does know everything!!

I did manage to create just one more card today when we got home from shopping. Here it is, another simple card.

Number 4

Wow, this blogging is fun, and much quicker than I thought it would be. I was sure once I started blogging it would take up too much of my time, however I am delightfully surprised that it doesn't take up too much time at all. The hardest part is going to be getting stuff done to post!

Here is the 4th card in the series of 8, another simple card. Cardctock is Bazzill Patch and the PP is Creative Imaginations Jolly Dot, and some old old scraps of O'Scrap. The tree stamp is Inkadinkado, another one of their wonderful clear sets. The greeting is stamped in Pallette L'Amore Red with a Hero Arts tiny greeting stamp. I used the Copic markers to color in the tree, YG13 Chartreuse and YG17 Grass Green. Last I embellished with Stickles from Ranger.

Well I managed to actually get some cards made tonight, despite all of the distractions around here. Sometimes you just have to close your eyes and ears and get down to work.

I made these two cards tonight for a private class I will be doing with some girlfriends who are not crafty at all but want to try to make cards this year. They want simple easy cards, I think these will do.

These are the first 2 of 8 we will be doing.
